Summer Sangha: Coming Together in Community, Coming Home to the Self with Peentz Dubble

Peentz Dubble

The word sangha means to “bring together” and is the general word for “community” in Sanskrit. This very special retreat marks the first time since the pandemic that Peentz has been able to travel back to her beloved New England Community. It is also the first retreat to be hosted in IYCWM’s new home at 76 Maple Street in Florence, MA. Join us for this auspicious occasion and bask in the warmth of our special Summer Sangha as we welcome our beloved teacher Peentz back home to New England.

Peentz Dubble has been teaching yoga for 35 years. In 1980 she began studying Iyengar yoga with Judy Freedman and met BKS Iyengar, both life-changing events. Inspired by Mr. Iyengar’s work, she continued to study with many extraordinary Iyengar teachers in the US.

She became certified to teach Iyengar Yoga in 1984 and took her first trip to India to study directly with BKS Iyengar and his daughter, Geeta and son, Prashant in 1987. She returns regularly to the Institute in India to continue learning from “the source”. Peentz was co-director of the first Iyengar Yoga Center in New York City and a founding faculty member of the current Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York. Upon moving from New York to Boston in 1994, Peentz began an extraordinary journey by studying with Patricia Walden. During the last 20 years, Peentz has been honored to deepen her understanding of yoga and teaching by studying with Patricia, as well as assisting her in many workshops and teaching in the BKS Iyengar Teacher Training Program from 1994-2011.

Until July 2017, Peentz served as Director of the Iyengar Yoga Program at Down Under Yoga in Newtonville and directed the Heart of Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training Program at DUY and the Yoga Philosophy Discussion Group. Peentz is an assessor for the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States (IYNAUS) teacher certification program. Peentz’s greatest joy is teaching and helping students to awaken to their full, brilliant potential through this amazing gift of yoga.

Peentz’s yoga classes offer an opportunity to dive deep into the unknown by studying the Iyengar approach to classical Hatha yoga in a systematic, methodical way. She is renowned for her sequencing and her ability to personally connect with each student, adapt to their needs, and assist them in reaching their personal goals and full potential. And of course, her deep love of poetry and imagery infuses each class!
